Nick sees an entirely different side of Gatsby when Daisy comes over for tea. Gatsby has always come off to Nick as mysterious and hidden but never unprepared. When Daisy is in Gatsby's presence, its like his very foundation is shaken. Nick now sees Gatsby with two different sides; his confident side and his childlike, insecure side that only Daisy can bring out. Nick does get annoyed with Gatsby after he keeps up his odd behavior throughout the evenning, but as Daisy and Gatsby get more comfotable with each other Nick soon learns that Gatsby is madly in love with Daisy and hasn't given up on her for five years. He admires Gatsby's persistance and patience.
As Daisy's backround is revealed to Nick by Jordan, you see a shift in his opinion towards Daisy. At first, when he went over to Daisy's and Toms house, Nick witnessess the sad life Daisy has and doesn't understand how she got there or why she would stay with a man that beats her and cheats on her. Or why she has a baby just for show, and prayed that the baby would be a boy. When Jordan tells him about Daisy's past he now understands where she's coming from and backround story behind her and Gatsby.
Nick doesn't show much admiration or respect for Tom. Although Nick is never disrespectful to Tom, he never thinks to himself that Tom is living his life the right way, or he wants to follow in Tom's footsteps. He is even a little confused with Tom and why he wouldn't appreciate his wife, Daisy.

Propaganda in BP
Emerld Video- He uses glittering generalties by stating that BP is doing a great job in cleaning up the oil spill. But we dont know exactly what they are doing and there is no way to measure greatness. A fallacy used in this video is the band wagon fallacy by stating "everyone" is doing their best to clean up the oil spill. These are used too give people vaige hope. There are no specifics yet it leaves you with a postive feeling.
US Olympics- Transfer is used in this commercial by transferring the positive loved emotions of the olympics to BP which is sponsering it. The athletes are portrayed as hard working and patriotic which is now assocaited with BP. A fallacy used is confusion of correlation and causation. They are trying to show that there set backs have been what made them greay.
Commitment to America- plain folks is used in this commericial because it portrays everyday people that are happy living on the gulf and in an healthy environment. A fallacy used in half truths because it lists a lot of statistics that portray BP in a good light instead of listing all of the statistics that show all of the harm that was cause by the oil spill
Tony Heyward- Card stacking is used in this commercial by only listing the statistics and facts of what BP is doing to help clean up the oil spill. No where in the commercial do they inform the audience of the immense damage BP did to the gulf. A fallacy used in this commercial is half truths. BP is painting only painting there company in a good light and showing how much they are helping to clean up the gulf when they are the reason for the spill in the first place
Gulf Tourism- Testimonial is used in this commercial by having various local big names in the commercial. Confusion and correlation and causation can be seen in this commercial because BP is trying to making the connecting that the oil spill has led to the largest tourism numbers in years.

"This Land is Your Land"
"This Land is Your Land" shows that Guthrie feels as if America is freedom ridden, and no one will ever be able to hold him back or diminish his freedom. This can be seen in the lines where Guthrie states, "Nobody living can ever stop me". This portrays his belief that no one can keep him from being free in America. Also in the lines, "As I go walking that freedom highway, nobody living can ever make me turn back." This emphasizes how woven freedom is into his path by using the term "freedom highway". The second part of the line illustrates he wouldn't live any other way. I agree with Gutherie's message that American and its freedom is important.

Where have you gone Charming Billy
The setting and the mood affect the reader's feeling toward PFC Paul Berlin by showing the instinctive nature and obedience of the soldiers. This can be seen even in the first line, "twenty-six soldiers moved slowly in the dark, single file, not talking". The soliders have been given orders by their leader and promptly obey them with precision. This is also relfected in how Paul Berlin feels about Billy Bennett. He is not out of line, and he does not leak his emotion. He does not let any of the other soldiers know how hurt he is, and he keeps it completely to himself. He just closes his eyes and imagines himself in a better place. Something that would be expected on an obedient solider.

70's commercial fallacies
Corn Flakes
An appeal used in this commercial is logos. Since in the commericial is says "It wont wilt on milk" its stating that this would be the logicical cerial to buy because all the other cereals will melt
A fallacy used is appeal to tradition. They do this by using a refrence to the American Gothic painting which is kind of an american icon which represent tradition. Its appealing to the families that have grown up on corn flakes and feel they have a certain tie to America because of the tradition.
Alka Seltzer
Pathos- Uses pathos because there are more attractive and in shape stomachs featured in the commerical even though is suppose to be for "all stomachs, in any shape"
A fallacy used in this commercial is argument from omniscience. This can be seen because they use the term "all" but they really cant know if Alka Seltzer really works on every single stomach in the world.
Delk
An appeal used is logos. They state two important facts which are the bases of their commericial.

"Chain Gang"
The song "Chain Gang" is symbolism to the way African Americans feel in America: like prisoners. The literal supression that is faced when someone is in a chain gang is being compared the supression African Americans feel at the time this song was written. It also shows the how unchanged society is in the span of 50 60 years. African Americans are still faced with the undisireable repetitive laborous jobs. They are chained the way they were during slavery times. Slavery has been abolished but the unfair treatment of blacks has not. This can be seen in the lyrics, "I hear them moanin' there lives away"

"Communist Utopia" By Thomas Hornung
One thing that indicates communism in this painting the gray monotonous surroundings. The first thing I noticed about this painting was the lack of colors, but I think that was the artist's goal. He wanted his artwork to reflect the lack of individuality in a communist influenced society. The eyeballs also indicate communism. Its a symbol of the reminder people are always watching.
The artist feels as if communism takes away a person's individuality. This can be seen by the wall that used to be brick but is now covered in a gray solid concrete. This concrete is trying to conceal the individualism of the bricks. Another indication of this is the man walking down the sidewalk. He's dressed blandly in a gray coat and you can't even see his face or his features.
The painting is named "Communist Utopia" because it's mocking the thought that communism could be a utopia.
